It’s amazing how just 1 week of having absolutely no time to sketch, makes me really scared to sit down and sketch when I finally can. What is that?! It’s really annoying to me – I think it’s possibly because I’m quite a perfectionist. What you see posted on this site is everything I do. In the last 2 years of The Completist (and all its previous iterations), I’ve posted every single piece that I’ve worked on. That means that there’s no half finished sketches that I couldn’t make work, or ones I just messed up. I think maybe that’s part of the problem – fear of failure (and don’t we all have it!)
Anyway, today I was in the mood for a collage, and I figured it was a good way to get myself going again. I’m pretty happy with it – I quite often start collages, but don’t find the pics I need so kind of give up (and no amount of magazines makes that any easier). So, now I’m happy with this one, I’m going to get started on the sketch I posted last week (check out my Instagram @the.completist to see progress pics).
Of course, the biggest distraction of all is this lovely assistant of mine who sits on my lap (or just on my sketch) and is just generally distracting!
